This is a very old picture - if anyone wants a better look, ask me the next time you're at my house!

William and Elizabeth Wilson

"We give a picture of Mr. & Mrs. Wilson, Danestone, Woodside, who were waited upon by a few of their family and friends on Thursday night of last week and presented with a purse of sovereigns on the occasion of their golden wedding.  Mr. Wilson is 74 years old, and Mrs. Wilson is 75, and they have had 15 children, of whom ten are alive. They have thirty grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Mr. Wilson was, for 23 years, in the employment of the late Mr. Charles Lawson, Cults, and he was awarded the third prize for long service offered by the Royal Northern Society at Aberdeen.  Mr. C. Lawson, Danestone, is whose employment Mr. Wilson is now, made the presentation is appropriate terms, expressing cordial good wishes for the happiness of the venerable couple."

Unfortunately no date is given.  I am currently reviewing maps of Aberdeenshire to pin down these crofts, inasmuchas it can be achieved given the time that has elapsed.

03.05.04 - Date of marriage 1st August 1857, so this picture must have been taken in 1907.

When Elsie, their second daughter, was married, her address was given as Netherhills, Newhills.  The groom was domiciled at Mains of Kinellar Lodge, Blackburn.

Note that William was still working, at 74.

Elizabeth was a daughter of Isabella, the Sicilian.
