I note here some of the items which made the papers.

Monymusk Soldier Killed

Mr. Alexander Buchan, Monymusk, has received official intimation from the War Office of the death of his son,  Private John Buchan, 2nd battalion, Gordon Highlanders.  Private Buchan was reported in the "Journal" as wounded a few days ago. At the outbreak of the war he was in Egypt, but has been at the front since the beginning of October.

At Keppleston, Newhills, on the 1st instant,  by the Reverend James Smith, B.D., Newhills, ALEXANDER BUCHAN, Mains of Kinellar Lodge, Blackburn, to ELSIE, second daughter of Wm. Wilson, overseer, Netherhills, Newhills.

At Kepplestone, Newmills, on the 1st December 1882,  by the Reverend James Smith, B.D. .... Present address Gillahill, Countesswells. 

 

Death notices c. 1909

At Gillahill, Countesswells, on the 9th inst., Elsie Wilson, beloved wife of Alexander Buchan, aged 45 years. Deeply regretted. Funeral on 12th inst., at two p.m., to Springbank Cemetery.  All friends invited. This the only intimation and invitation.

   

WILSON- IN loving memory of John Wilson, shoemaker, Finzean, who died at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on 3rd (?) March 1911, aged 45; also Elsie Wilson, beloved wife of Alec Buchan,  who died at Gillahill, Countesswells, on 9th October 1909(?) aged 45.
