Hi - I got to your website from a search of "George Ness" and "Walker" which turned up your family tree thru Elizabeth Wilson (nee Ness)!
I am descended thru a sister of Elizabeth.
I was wondering if you have found any information on George Ness a/o Mary Walker.
What I have is as follows:
1) In the 1841 census Mary is listed as being born in England but nothing further.
George was born in Aberdeenshire according to the census. Both are apparently deceased by 1851 as they are not in the census and the
children are living with an Uncle and Aunt (except your Elizabeth who is a servant at another home in Towie. Nothing found in OPR
for a marriage of Mary and George. Elizabeth had several siblings although she appears to be the oldest from census ages.
2) Assuming the Uncle Alexander Ness the kids were living with in 1851 was the brother of George then I do find Alexander's
death certificate lists his parents as Thomas Ness and Margaret Russel(l) who would presumably be George's parents too.
There are OPR entries in Towie for this couple's offspring but unfortunately George is not one of the ones listed in the index.
3)With Mary having died pre-registration and no monument inscription that has been indexed (if she even had one) that branch
of the tree is a major dead end.
4)If we assume #2 to be George's parents then there may be more to learn there although both of the suspected parents were dead
prior to registration as well so furthering that will be difficult. I do find there monumental inscriptions listed in the Towie
graveyard index so I need to order that book from Aberdeen Family History Center to see what else might be on the stone that would
provide clues.
If you have anything that confirms or helps further my search I would appreciate learning about it. thank you.
